OUR GOALS

Communications Consumers United, mission is to increase technology absorption rates in minority, urban and rural communities and promotes the important role these technologies are playing in daily life.

The ultimate goal of CCU’s advocacy is to eliminate all policies that serve as barriers to deployment of communications products and services, such as regressive taxes and excessive regulatory burdens. We promote robust adoption and use of communications products and services by minority, rural and low-income communities.

CCU works with grassroots organizations and public policy makers to ensure that progress is made in providing universal and affordable access to vital technologies by the advanced communications industry.

We educate consumers and organize with grassroots advocates in order to empower consumers with the ability and confidence to speak with a common voice on critical issues.

The CCU coalition is intended to rally the voices of grassroots organizations around the critical issues of technology access and absorption, particularly for low-income communities, rural communities and minority communities.

EMPOWER

• CCU members initiatives will be highlighted and shared with the coalition and the public through the CCU website.  Your organizations logo and a link to your homepage will be added to our member page.

Government officials, community members and other organizations will gain more familiarity with your organizations’ work and in doing so connect with the network of organizations speaking out on technology access issues.

EDUCATE

• CCU members receive localized materials by email about how legislation affects people and what can be done about it.

Awareness of how these issues influence people in your community, how to quantify the impact and speak confidently about proposed changes is key to affecting change.
